The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned power outages in Accra East and Tema from November 8 to 13, 2026, as part of maintenance operations to improve the reliability of its power distribution network. The scheduled exercise will affect different locations on designated days, causing temporary disruptions in electricity supply. Residents, businesses, and institutions are expected to experience outages during the maintenance period.
In Accra East, maintenance activities will take place daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The first interruption is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, affecting Cantonment, Akai Clinic, Zanzibar Restaurant, and neighbouring communities with an eight-hour power outage. On Monday, November 9, parts of Alajo, Abelemkpe, sections of Adenta New Site, Pantang Hospital, Kente Junction, and their surrounding localities will be affected.
The maintenance programme will continue on Tuesday, November 10, with Haatso Ecomog, Tseaddo Zion, ICGC Bush Road, Camp 2, and adjoining communities scheduled to experience interruptions. On Wednesday, November 11, parts of Oyarifa, Kouttam Estate, Teiman, Teshie Beach Road, Laboratory Family Health, Teshie Maami, and surrounding areas will be affected. The outages are part of ECG's efforts to undertake essential maintenance on its electricity distribution infrastructure.
In Tema, ECG has scheduled two separate maintenance exercises on Tuesday, November 10, and Thursday, November 12, between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. On November 10, affected locations will include Dawhenya Township, Abbey Kope, Ablekuma, Lebanon Zones 3 and 4, Zenu, Atadeka, Tema International School, EU China Mall, Don Bosco, Tulaku, Bethlehem, Sebrepor, and White Estates.
The second Tema exercise on November 12 will affect communities such as Jordan City, Santor, Aunty Araba, Agbeshie Laryea, Nelplast, Kubekro, Switzerland, Sydal Farms, Japan City, Adjei Kojo, Teteman, Global, Nudu, Frankadua, Kissifui, Osiabura, Asikuma, Anum, Bosso, and Mpakadan. ECG has apologized to residents, businesses, and institutions expected to be affected, appealing for their understanding and cooperation.
The planned outages mean that households, commercial establishments, educational institutions, and other electricity-dependent facilities within the affected communities may need to make alternative arrangements to minimise disruptions to their daily activities. Customers are encouraged to plan ahead, particularly businesses and institutions whose operations depend heavily on uninterrupted electricity supply.
ECG's maintenance operations aim to strengthen the reliability of power supply to customers. The company has urged residents, businesses, and institutions to be prepared for the temporary disruptions and to cooperate during the maintenance period. The outages are expected to be completed by Friday, November 13, after which normal power supply will be restored to the affected areas.
