The DCI published the notice on Monday, September 21, 2026, on its official Facebook page, urging members of the public to come forward with any details that could lead to Kipkechem's arrest. The agency has asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them through their toll-free hotline on 0800 722 203, via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000, or through the emergency lines 999, 911, or 112.
This is not the first case of a suspect fleeing after being granted bail. Recently, DCI detectives launched a search for Ben Shapaya, a Kakamega resident accused of posing as a medical doctor and defrauding victims seeking to import vehicles from Japan. Shapaya was charged with cheating after allegedly collecting money from multiple victims before absconding from court.
The Kibera Chief Magistrates’ Court issued a warrant for Shapaya's arrest after he failed to appear in June 2025. The DCI urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to report to the authorities.
