Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, has reinforced its commitment to the development of its host communities with the award of educational scholarships and empowerment support. The initiative, part of the company's Community Development Agreement (CDA), aims to promote sustainable community development, poverty reduction, and economic empowerment. The program targets students, farmers, and market women in Jakura community, demonstrating the company's dedication to improving the lives of its host communities.

The Plant Director, Obajana Plant, Engr. Azad Nawabuddin, represented by the Head of Social Performance, Prince Ademola Adeyemi, emphasized that the intervention reflects Dangote Cement's commitment to sustainable community development. The program saw 20 tertiary institution students and 60 secondary school students receive educational grants worth several millions of naira. This move is expected to encourage academic excellence and support students in achieving their educational goals.

In addition to educational support, 20 farmers were provided with farming implements and financial support to improve agricultural productivity, encourage the adoption of modern farming practices, and enhance food security. This initiative aims to boost the local economy and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The empowerment program also included 20 market women who received start-up capital and business support to strengthen their enterprises, promote financial independence, and improve household incomes.

The presentation ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, government representatives, community leaders, youth and women groups, and members of the Jakura and Oworo traditional councils. Notable attendees included the Obaro of Jakura, His Royal Highness Oba Usman Adoga Ajibola, and the representative of the Olu of Oworo, Chief K.A. Mahmood. The event demonstrated the collaborative effort between Dangote Cement and the community to promote development and well-being.

Chairman of the Jakura CDA Committee, Chief Bonibade Ajiboye, commended Dangote Cement for fulfilling its commitments to the community. He noted that the company's electrification project in the area was nearing completion despite prevailing security challenges.
