CVsky, Cabo Verde's inter-island air transport company, has acquired a new ATR 72-600 aircraft as part of its strategic plan to modernize and expand its fleet. The aircraft, which has arrived in the country, is expected to increase the company's response to air transport needs and mobility between islands. The ATR 72-600 is a regional aviation model suitable for island markets, offering operational efficiency and characteristics tailored to Cabo Verde's domestic network.

The new aircraft, identified by serial number MSN 1829, is part of CVsky's efforts to develop a reliable and efficient inter-island air transport network with a focus on safety and sustainability. According to LACV, the company operating under the CVsky brand, the integration of the new aircraft represents a commitment to improving its services. The official reception and blessing ceremony for the aircraft took place on November 6, 2026, at Nelson Mandela International Airport in Praia.

Although the new aircraft has arrived in Cabo Verde, it has not yet been integrated into CVsky's commercial operations. Technical teams from LACV and the Civil Aviation Authority will proceed with the final phase of the certification process, which is expected to be completed in the coming days. Once certified, the aircraft will be included in the company's Operational Specifications, allowing it to enter commercial service.

With the addition of the new ATR 72-600, CVsky's operational fleet will consist of three aircraft. The company plans to expand its fleet to four aircraft starting January 2027, which will include a dedicated spare aircraft to ensure greater protection of the inter-island network and continuity of operations in case of an aircraft being unavailable.

The ATR 72-600 is a suitable model for CVsky's operations, given its efficiency and characteristics tailored to island markets. The aircraft will enable CVsky to improve its services, increasing the frequency and reliability of flights between islands. This development is part of CVsky's strategy to enhance its presence in the Cabo Verdean market and provide better connectivity between islands.

The acquisition of the new aircraft is a significant step for CVsky, which aims to provide a high-quality air transport service to the Cabo Verdean community. The company's efforts to modernize and expand its fleet are expected to contribute to the development of the country's air transport sector. CVsky's management has expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, highlighting the importance of the new aircraft in strengthening the company's operations.

CVsky's plans to expand its fleet and improve its services are aligned with the company's goal of providing efficient and reliable air transport to the islands of Cabo Verde. The integration of the new ATR 72-600 aircraft is a key component of this strategy, and the company is expected to continue investing in its fleet and services to meet the growing demand for air transport in the region.
