As the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games approach, the Comoros region of Hambou is gearing up to host part of the delegations. With limited hotel capacity, the Hambou Ntsinimoipanga municipality has launched a campaign to identify private homes that can be rented during the event. The goal is to find 90 fully equipped houses that can accommodate the delegations. This initiative aims to alleviate the pressure on existing hotels and ensure sufficient accommodation for the visitors.

Ahamada Saidou, the communication officer for the project, explains that the limited number of available hotels in the country necessitated the search for private housing. The municipality is encouraging property owners to come forward and fill out information forms to assess the available accommodations. If the target number of 90 houses is not met, the search may be extended to neighboring localities, including Nyumadzaha ya Bambao and Seleya.

According to Ahamada Saidou, there is potential for finding suitable accommodations, particularly in houses owned by Comorians living in France. Many of these houses are currently underutilized or vacant. The identified homes will undergo training sessions for owners or hosts, focusing on accommodation, delegation reception, and best practices. This training, which began on September 19, aims to equip owners with the necessary skills to improve their homes and provide quality services.

Approximately 20 houses will be required to meet higher standards of comfort and standing. These homes will be evaluated, and recommendations will be made for necessary improvements. The tariffs for the accommodations will depend on the level of comfort and services offered. Once selected, the homes will be registered on a platform that lists their characteristics, equipment, and prices.

The initiative also aims to provide young people with opportunities to acquire skills in hospitality and accommodation management. By participating in the training sessions, they can develop essential skills to manage and host delegations effectively. This experience will not only benefit the individuals but also enhance the overall quality of services provided during the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games.

The 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games are expected to attract a significant number of visitors to Comoros. The local authorities are working to ensure that the event is a success, and the private housing initiative is a crucial part of these preparations. By engaging with property owners and providing training, the municipality hopes to create a network of quality accommodations that will meet the needs of the delegations.

The selected homes will play a vital role in supporting the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games. With the event fast approaching, the Hambou region is working diligently to finalize the preparations and provide a welcoming experience for the visiting delegations. The success of this initiative will not only benefit the event but also contribute to the local community's development and growth.
