The Comoros Ministry of Health has donated 1 million francs comoriens to the Association comorienne contre le cancer chez la femme (Accf) to support their activities, particularly during the October Rose 2026 campaign. The handover took place on Monday at the Ministry of Health in the presence of several health authorities, including Minister of Health Ahamadi Sidi Nahouda. The meeting aimed to discuss ways to collaborate in the fight against gynecological cancers in women in Comoros.

The Association comorienne contre le cancer chez la femme (Accf) has been actively engaged in cancer awareness, screening, and patient follow-up for many years. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Ania Mohamed Issa, commended the Accf for their tireless efforts and the courage shown by the women they support. She highlighted that the Ministry's support is in line with the government's priorities to improve maternal and child health.

The donation was made possible through the Projet d'Appui à l'assurance maladie généralisée, which prioritizes maternal and child health. The Ministry took advantage of the October Rose month to hand over the cheque to the Accf in support of their activities. Ania Mohamed Issa explained that the project aims to provide universal health insurance, and the Ministry is committed to supporting initiatives that promote women's health.

The President of the Accf, Zahara Abdallah, expressed gratitude to the health authorities for their support, particularly the direction of disease control, which has been a strong ally for the association. She welcomed the deployment of universal health insurance in certain regions, including Mwali, where 70% of the cost of mammography will be covered by the state.

Zahara Abdallah also mentioned that the Accf will cover the remaining 30% of mammography costs in Mwali. The association has also requested that the Ministry explore the possibility of providing chemotherapy services for cancer patients. The Ministry has assured that a chemotherapy service will be available at the El-Maarouf Hospital, which will help reduce medical evacuations.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Ania Mohamed Issa, has reassured that the Ministry is working to ensure that the necessary technical platforms and services are in place to provide quality healthcare. The Ministry's support for the Accf is a significant step towards improving women's health in Comoros.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Accf is expected to strengthen the fight against gynecological cancers in Comoros. With the deployment of universal health insurance and the availability of chemotherapy services, women in Comoros will have better access to healthcare and treatment.
