Violent clashes broke out on Tuesday between residents of several villages under Kiniebakoura and Frenkamaya in the Siguiri prefecture, leaving six people injured by gunfire. The victims included a motorcyclist who was caught in the crossfire while passing through the area. According to Dr. Abdoulaye Bachir Condé, a medical officer with the Siguiri district health team, the injured individuals have been receiving treatment and are currently out of danger.

Dr. Bachir Condé reported that six people with projectile wounds were admitted to local health facilities. Two of the victims, Souleymane Traoré and Doubani Keita, are from the village of Sonala under Frenkamaya. Traoré sustained injuries to his right shoulder and thorax, while Keita was hit in the right shoulder and pelvis. A third victim, Fodé Mamadi Berété, was not from either of the villages involved and was riding a motorcycle when the incident occurred.

Berété suffered a head trauma without loss of consciousness and a gunshot wound to his right lower limb. Three other individuals from Sanafra under Kiniebakoura were also injured: Ibrahima Traoré, who was hit in the right thigh; Batoman Doumbouya, who sustained a thigh injury; and Alamako Traoré, who was shot in the left shoulder. All six victims received emergency care and underwent necessary medical imaging tests.

According to Dr. Bachir Condé, the injured individuals have received urgent treatment and undergone imaging exams, and their condition is currently stable. The doctor expressed relief that the situation is under control, saying, "The emergency treatment has been provided, and imaging exams have been conducted. As of now, they are all out of danger."

While the immediate health concerns for the victims seem to be easing, the clashes have revived concerns about tensions between the communities involved. The exact circumstances surrounding the violence and potential repercussions on coexistence between residents remain unclear.

The incident highlights longstanding issues between communities in the region, which have experienced periodic outbreaks of violence. Local authorities and stakeholders will likely be working to investigate the causes of the clashes and find ways to prevent future incidents.

The situation in Siguiri is being closely monitored by local and national authorities. Efforts are underway to ensure that the injured receive continued care and that peace is restored in the affected areas.
