The 2026 Annual Directors Conference (ADC) of the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria is set to hold between 10th and 11th November 2026, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel. The conference, themed 'Reimagining the Boardroom for Inclusive and Sustainable National Prosperity in the New Economy,' will focus on sustainable capital and governance. It aims to examine Nigeria's ambition of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

The President/Chairman of the Governing Council, CIoD Nigeria, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji, stated that the conference will feature a 'Business Meets Government Dinner' focusing on ESG, Sustainability, and the Climate Agenda. The dinner, chaired by the Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, will take place on Wednesday, 11th November, 2026. Oyebanji noted that the conference theme reflects the changing responsibilities confronting boards and directors.

According to Oyebanji, the Nigerian economy is being influenced by technological advancement, artificial intelligence, changing patterns of investment, entrepreneurship, sustainability concerns, and developments in the global business environment. These developments require boards to continually examine how they provide leadership, oversight, and direction. The conference will address areas including strategic competitiveness, entrepreneurial growth, capital access, artificial intelligence, board accountability, value creation, collaboration, and inclusion.

The Chairman, National Organising Committee (NOC) of the 2026 ADC, Dr. Waheed Olagunju, revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been invited to open the conference. Former Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, will deliver the keynote address. The conference will examine several issues relevant to contemporary boardrooms, including strategic competitiveness, accelerating entrepreneurial growth, and board accountability in the age of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Olagunju stated that the conference will feature a session on 'Boardrooms as Engines of Value Creation, Collaboration, and Inclusion for Shared Prosperity.' There will also be a Fireside Chat on 'Elevating Boardroom Standards for Exemplary Corporate Conduct.' The Chairman of the Board of Directors of ECOBank Nigeria, Mrs. Bola Adesola, and the former Managing Director and CEO of Central Securities Clearing System, Mr. Haruna Jalo-Waziri, will share their insights on this topic.

The NOC chair, Dr. Olagunju, assured that the Committee has put together a programme designed to give participants opportunities for valuable discussions, networking, and professional engagement. The programme includes a Golf Tournament at Ikoyi Club, scheduled for Thursday, 5th November 2026, which will provide an opportunity for participants and members to interact in an informal setting ahead of the main event.

Participation fees for the conference are N200,000 for CIoD members, N250,000 for non-members for physical participation, and N100,000 for online participants and members of the Institute's Young Directors Forum. The Director General/Chief Executive Officer, CIoD Nigeria, Dr. Taiwo Nolas-Alausa, emphasized that the Institute's ADC is an important platform for bringing directors and other stakeholders together to examine issues that affect the quality of leadership, governance, and decision-making in organisations.
