The Coalition nationale des autorités morales pour la médiation et le renforcement des voix de la paix (CONAMM) organized a two-day training workshop in Doba, Logone Oriental province, from October 5-6, 2026. The workshop, funded by the European Union, aimed to equip community relays with skills in conflict prevention and management. This initiative is part of the Projet d'appui au parlement et au processus électoral (PAPPE), which seeks to promote democratic governance in Chad.
The training workshop is designed to strengthen the capacity of community relays in promoting peace, preventing conflicts, and managing disputes in their respective communities. According to CONAMM's Secretary General, Baniara Yoyana, the coalition's mission is to pacify the country through mediation, leveraging endogenous mechanisms for conflict prevention and management. The training is expected to enhance the skills of community relays in mediation, advocacy, and communication.
The CONAMM Secretary General emphasized that the coalition aims to establish a visible presence in 14 provinces of Chad. To achieve this goal, CONAMM plans to train 210 community relays, making them operational in all 14 provinces. The trained relays will be equipped to organize awareness-raising activities, mediation, and advocacy in their communities. This initiative is expected to contribute to promoting peace and stability in the region.
The training workshop was welcomed by Toké Dady, the Délégué général du gouvernement auprès de la province du Logone Oriental. He acknowledged that the province has suffered from numerous conflicts orchestrated by its own people, which have hindered socio-economic development. Dady emphasized that building peace requires individuals, groups, and communities to learn to coexist, resolve conflicts through dialogue, and respect each other's rights.
The two-day workshop will enhance the technical capacities of participants, enabling them to organize awareness-raising activities, mediation, and advocacy. The trained community relays will also support communication efforts in their communities. This initiative is expected to promote social cohesion and peaceful coexistence in the region.
The Projet d'appui au parlement et au processus électoral (PAPPE) aims to support the parliament and electoral process in Chad. The project seeks to promote democratic governance, strengthen institutions, and enhance the participation of citizens in the electoral process. The training workshop for community relays is a key component of this project.
The training of community relays in conflict prevention and management is a significant step towards promoting peace and stability in Chad. The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of communities in Logone Oriental province and beyond. By empowering community relays, CONAMM and its partners aim to create a more peaceful and harmonious society.
