The government of Chad has inaugurated a community multimedia center (CCM) in Moundou, a city in the Logone Occidental province. The center was opened on September 29, 2026, by Hisseine Brahim Abdelkrim, Secretary General of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Digital Economy, and Digitalization. The CCM aims to enhance access to digital tools and services for the local population. Located within the Agency for the Development of Information and Communication Technologies (ADETIC), the center is designed to provide a space for training, learning, and accessing digital services.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Dago Yacoub, the government's delegate to the Logone Occidental province, and the mayor of Moundou. The event also drew representatives from various administrative, civil, and military authorities, as well as defense and security forces and youth representatives. Adoum Djimet Saboun, Director of ADETIC, highlighted the need to reduce inequalities in access to digital technologies. He emphasized that digital access should be available to all segments of the population, regardless of their place of residence.
The community multimedia center features several facilities, including a training room equipped with computer equipment, a cybersecurity room, a large meeting room with a capacity for 120 people, administrative offices, a secretariat, a waiting area, and a technical room with servers. The center also has a cafeteria and a hybrid energy source combining the TchadÉlect network, solar energy, and a generator. The infrastructure is designed to provide more than just access to computers and internet; it aims to enable students to access educational resources, young people to enhance their digital skills, and women entrepreneurs to benefit from digital opportunities.
According to Adoum Djimet Saboun, the center's objective is to invest in human capital, particularly for young people and the population of Logone Occidental province. He stressed that digital access should not be limited to major cities or administrations but should be extended to territories, communities, and every citizen. The center's director believes that these facilities will contribute to training, creating economic activities, and promoting professional insertion for young people.
Dago Yacoub, the government's delegate to the Logone Occidental province, praised the new infrastructure, stating that it will strengthen access to digital tools and services for the population. He noted that digital technology now plays a significant role in economic and social development, particularly in access to knowledge, modernization of public services, innovation, and job creation. Yacoub encouraged young people to make the center a space for learning, creativity, and innovation.
