Cairo University's health sector recently organized a comprehensive event, "Pink October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month," under the auspices of Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, the university's president. The event aimed to promote health awareness and establish a culture of prevention and early detection. It was supervised by Dr. Mohamed El-Attar, the vice president for academic affairs, and Dr. Gehan El-Minyawi, the dean of the health sector's faculties.

Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek emphasized that the event reflects the university's commitment to building health awareness among young people and enhancing its social responsibility towards priority health issues. He noted that universities play a role beyond providing academic knowledge, extending to establishing a culture of prevention, promoting community awareness, and preparing generations capable of contributing effectively to serving society.

The event featured a lecture by Dr. Omar Sharif Omar, a professor of surgery at Kasr El-Aini and consultant for breast tumor surgery, who discussed breast tumors, from prevention and early detection to surgical perspective. Additionally, Dr. Israa Rustam, an assistant professor of physical therapy for surgery at Cairo University, presented a lecture on "Post-Mastectomy Lymphedema: Evidence-Based Management," focusing on methods for dealing with lymphedema that may occur after breast removal surgeries.

Dr. Ayah Abdel Majid, a lecturer in clinical pharmacy at Cairo University, delivered a lecture titled "Beyond the Prescription: The Clinical Pharmacist's Role in Breast Cancer Care," highlighting the pivotal role of clinical pharmacists in the breast cancer care system. The event also included the participation of program directors, a selection of faculty members, and students from the health sector.

The event included an art exhibition prepared by the "Students for Egypt" family, as well as an exhibition of activities by students from human medicine, pharmacy, and physical therapy programs. The displayed works reflected the students' creativity and awareness of the "Pink October" message, using art and student activities to convey awareness messages and human support.

Dr. Gehan El-Minyawi stressed that the scientific lectures demonstrated the importance of integration between surgery, physical therapy, and clinical pharmacy specialties in providing a comprehensive system for breast cancer patient care. This integration represents one of the basic pillars for developing a modern healthcare system and allows students to understand the integrated roles of various specialties in improving treatment outcomes.

The "Pink October" event at Cairo University underscores the institution's approach to linking academic knowledge with practical application and social responsibility. The university aims to prepare qualified and professionally competent health cadres with human awareness and the ability to contribute positively to serving society and improving quality of life.
