The Ivoirian Ministry of Tourism and Leisure's External Services Directorate (DSE) conducted a monitoring, coaching, and follow-up mission in Yamoussoukro on September 22, 2026. Led by Director Kramo épouse Boni, the delegation met with the Yamoussoukro Regional Tourism and Leisure Directorate, headed by Koulibaly Félicité épouse Soumahoro. The meeting included the Yamoussoukro departmental tourism director, Soro Mamadou, and Bouaflé departmental tourism director, Nouoma Michel.

This mission is part of the DSE's coordination activities to ensure proximity supervision, support, and monitoring of decentralized services, enhancing their effectiveness and improving task implementation. The objectives include visiting and assessing these services, discussing ministry orientations and prospects with regional and departmental representatives, and transmitting ministerial directives to basic operational entities.

The mission also aims to evaluate tourist circuit reliability, identify challenges and blockages in mission execution, and review the 2022-2025 Performance Contract (COP) implementation results. This aligns with Côte d'Ivoire's national tourism development policy, particularly the "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire" strategy (2018-2025), which seeks to enhance tourist offer quality, boost attractiveness, and ensure destination competitiveness.

On September 23, the Yamoussoukro Regional Tourism and Leisure Directorate organized a panoramic visit for the delegation to discover some of the capital's tourist sites. The sites visited included the Parliamentary Hotel, Charles Konan-Banny Stadium, Félix Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute, Okaïma Lake, and Notre-Dame de la Paix Basilica.

The delegation's visit aimed to assess Yamoussoukro's tourism potential and identify areas for improvement. This initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to developing the country's tourism sector, a key component of Côte d'Ivoire's economic growth strategy.

The DSE's mission is part of a broader tour covering Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, Katiola, Korhogo, and Abidjan. Further visits are planned to evaluate and support decentralized tourism services across the country, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality services to tourists.

The Côte d'Ivoire government has prioritized tourism development, recognizing its potential to drive economic growth and create jobs. The "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire" strategy has guided efforts to enhance the country's tourist infrastructure and services, positioning Côte d'Ivoire as a premier destination in West Africa.
