The Ivoirian authorities have launched a new security operation, "Épervier 12", aimed at strengthening police presence in sensitive areas of Yamoussoukro. The operation, which began on October 29, 2026, targets neighborhoods such as Dioulakro, Morofé, Assabou, 220 Logements, Makora, and Sopim. According to the Prefect of Police, Commissioner Major Bouadou Blaise Angbonon, the operation will focus on occasional patrols and targeted interventions in identified sensitive zones.
Unlike previous operations that relied on fixed checkpoints, "Épervier 12" will prioritize mobile patrols and targeted interventions. The police will also focus on areas marked by parades, noise disturbances, and unauthorized gatherings, as well as zones posing risks to public tranquility. The exact number of agents to be deployed has not been disclosed, but the Prefect of Police assured that sufficient human resources will be mobilized to ensure the operation's effectiveness.
The operation's duration is not fixed and will continue until the launch of the next operation, "Épervier 13". The initiative aims to prevent, deter, and repress crime and behaviors compromising collective security. The actions planned include intensifying day and night patrols, combating drug trafficking, dismantling criminal networks, and securing road traffic.
The launch ceremony of "Épervier 12" took place at the esplanade of the Wahabia mosque in Dioulakro, in the presence of administrative, political, traditional authorities, and defense and security forces. The Prefect of Police presented the operation's main orientations, highlighting its reinforced prevention, deterrence, and repression of crime.
According to the Prefect of Police, the previous operation "Épervier 11" resulted in 12,590 agents mobilized, 4,869 patrols conducted, and 6,794 control and security operations carried out. The operation also led to the arrest of 717 individuals, including 303 referred to the prosecutor's office, and the control of 13,557 vehicles and engines.
The authorities have called on the population, youth, transporters, traders, women's associations, traditional leaders, and religious guides to collaborate with security forces by reporting suspicious behavior through appropriate channels. The operation "Épervier 12" was launched simultaneously with a national ceremony in Bouaké, presided over by the Minister of Interior and Security.
The Ivoirian government has been working to strengthen security measures in the country, particularly in urban areas. The "Épervier" operations are part of a broader strategy to combat crime and maintain public order. The authorities have assured that they will continue to work with local communities to ensure the success of the operation and improve security in Yamoussoukro and beyond.
