The city of Odienné in Côte d'Ivoire has been chosen to host the 7th edition of the Social Round, a caravan aimed at promoting social protection and improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations. The event, scheduled to take place from December 1-6, 2026, is an initiative of the Ministry of Employment, Social Protection, and Professional Training. The caravan seeks to bring social protection services closer to the people through awareness-raising, information, and enrollment in various social programs.

According to Hermine Cosse, Director of Communication at the Ministry of Employment, Social Protection, and Professional Training, the Social Round is an initiative of Minister Adama Kamara. The program aims to encourage populations to enroll in social programs such as the Universal Health Coverage (CMU), the Social Regime for Independent Workers (RSTI), and complementary retirement regimes. Cosse made the announcement at a press conference held at the Odienné Regional Council's festival hall on November 3, 2026.

The main objective of the Social Round is to encourage populations already enrolled in social programs to make regular contributions to benefit from related health coverage. Cosse stated that over 100% enrollment has been achieved in the CMU, but the challenge now is to get enrolled individuals to start making contributions. She emphasized the need for strong mobilization of populations to overcome this challenge. The 7th edition of the Social Round will focus on elderly people and persons with disabilities.

Special activities have been planned to celebrate elderly people and persons with disabilities during the 7th edition of the Social Round. A social protection village will be set up to provide information and access to various services offered. The caravan will also provide training and opportunities for young people and women to promote their autonomy and socio-economic integration. This initiative aims to bring social protection services closer to the people.

Cosse highlighted the crucial role of media professionals in the success of the Social Round, inviting them to contribute to the widespread dissemination of information among populations. She announced that an information and mobilization mission will continue to other organizations in the Denguélé region to encourage massive adhesion to this edition of the Social Round. The media plays a vital role in promoting social protection programs.

The Social Round caravan will provide a platform for populations to access information and services related to social protection. The program aims to promote social protection and improve living conditions for vulnerable populations. By bringing social protection services closer to the people, the initiative seeks to encourage enrollment and regular contributions to social programs.
