The commune of Bingerville in Côte d'Ivoire is set to benefit from an allocation of 200 billion FCFA under the country's 2026-2030 National Development Plan (PND). The plan, which has a total budget of 14,000 billion FCFA, aims to drive growth and development across the nation. This allocation was announced by Issouf Doumbia, the deputy for the constituency, during a parliamentary meeting at the local youth center on October 27, 2026.
According to Deputy Issouf Doumbia, the 200 billion FCFA allocation represents about 1.43% of the total PND budget. The funds will be used to finance several key projects that will improve the quality of life for residents in Bingerville. One of the major projects is the construction of two bridges: one connecting Éloka to Vitré in the Grand-Bassam area and another connecting Abatta to Koumassi. These bridges aim to enhance mobility and reduce traffic congestion in the region.
In addition to the bridge construction projects, the allocation will also be used for the construction and rehabilitation of educational institutions. This includes building new schools and upgrading existing ones to provide better learning environments for students. Furthermore, the funds will be used to extend strategic roads and develop social infrastructure. These projects are expected to have a positive impact on the daily lives of the commune's residents.
The parliamentary meeting where the allocation was announced is part of a broader initiative by the President of the National Assembly, Jérôme Patrick Achi. The initiative aims to bring parliamentary action closer to the people and foster a stronger dialogue between elected officials and their constituents. During the meeting, Deputy Issouf Doumbia also provided an update on the laws passed during the first parliamentary session from January to June 2026.
Deputy Issouf Doumbia highlighted several key laws passed during the session, including one that makes it mandatory for real estate developers and construction companies building structures over two levels (R+2) to have all-risk insurance. This law aims to mitigate risks associated with construction and ensure that developers are accountable. He also discussed the law on social and solidarity economy, which is designed to provide financial support to women and young project leaders grouped in associations.
Sanon Koffi Michel, the deputy mayor of Akoupé and head of the delegation, praised the state's investment in transportation infrastructure. He specifically mentioned the construction of the Feh Kessé roundabout interchange, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, and the Abidjan metro project. These projects have significantly improved transportation in Bingerville and its surrounding areas, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel times.
The 2026-2030 National Development Plan is a comprehensive strategy aimed at driving Côte d'Ivoire's economic growth and social development. With allocations like the one to Bingerville, the plan seeks to address regional disparities and improve living standards across the country. The implementation of these projects is expected to create jobs, stimulate local economies, and contribute to the overall development of Côte d'Ivoire.
