The Organisation of Young Liberals of Côte d'Ivoire (OJLCI) has installed its regional coordination in San Pedro, with Kla Yann Marchal as the coordinator. The ceremony, attended by Sidi Tiémoko Touré, a founding member, and Anoblé Félix, a deputy and ceremony sponsor, marked the launch of the OJLCI's national program to promote liberalism. The program aims to promote liberal values, particularly among young people.
The program, themed "Liberalism, Engine of Economic Transformation in San Pedro Region," seeks to invest in human capital, entrepreneurship, and territories for sustainable prosperity. It aims to strengthen entrepreneurial culture, develop economic and civic skills, encourage innovation, and support local development initiatives. The program also fosters dialogue between young people, academics, elected officials, and economic actors.
The OJLCI plans to train 100 young people, with the goal of making San Pedro a model for Côte d'Ivoire. Sidi Tiémoko Touré urged young liberals to take responsibility and contribute to development by learning to seek employment, training, and preparing for entrepreneurship challenges. He commended the organization's growth since its creation in 1998.
Anoblé Félix, the ceremony's sponsor, expressed his willingness to support young people and proposed accompanying them in project realization through the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) incubator established during his tenure as San Pedro mayor. Idriss Ouattara, OJLCI's national president, stated that choosing San Pedro was strategic due to its economic potential, including its port, agricultural resources, and young population.
The OJLCI, created in 1998, is a civic organization engaged in promoting liberal values, responsible leadership, democracy, entrepreneurship, and youth participation in Côte d'Ivoire's economic, social, and political development. It aims to strengthen young people's capacities and economic autonomy. A panel discussion on San Pedro's development perspectives and conditions for sustainable prosperity accompanied the event.
The OJLCI's program in San Pedro reflects its broader goals of empowering young people to drive development. By investing in human capital and promoting entrepreneurship, the organization seeks to harness the region's potential for sustainable growth. The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and youth employment.
