In a significant development, the Mutuelle de développement de l'école de Tiédio (MUDET) has constructed a hostel to address the accommodation needs of 48 students in Tiédio, a locality 15 kilometers from Tanda. The facility, comprising eight rooms, was officially handed over to the beneficiaries on October 31, 2026. This initiative aims to enhance access to education and improve study conditions for the students.
The hostel is equipped with 24 bunk beds and is a result of the collective efforts of 42 individuals from Tiédio who came together to provide a suitable accommodation environment for the students, regardless of their background. MUDET President Kra Kouadio highlighted the importance of education, citing Nelson Mandela, and emphasized that this project is the first phase of a larger educational program on a five-hectare site.
The program includes plans for a general education institution and a vocational training center. Sub-prefect of Tiédio, Mme Soro Pelayari épouse Coulibaly, commended the MUDET members for their initiative and solidarity, noting that the hostel will improve learning conditions and promote academic excellence. She encouraged the students to take care of the facility and its equipment.
The hostel operates on an annual fee of 45,000 FCFA per student, with an additional 2,000 FCFA registration fee. MUDET President Kra Kouadio urged parents to view these fees as an investment in their children's future and academic success. The mutuelle was established in 2021 with the goal of contributing to the development of educational opportunities in the region.
The ceremony marking the official handover of the hostel was attended by local authorities, service chiefs, and students. The MUDET's efforts have been recognized as a significant contribution to the improvement of educational infrastructure in the region. The organization's initiatives aim to support the educational needs of the local community.
The construction of the hostel is a testament to the commitment of the MUDET members to support the educational development of Tiédio. The facility is expected to have a positive impact on the students' academic performance and overall well-being. The MUDET's project is a notable example of community-led development in the region.
The MUDET's educational program is set to expand, with plans for further development on the five-hectare site. The organization's vision is to create a comprehensive educational environment that caters to the needs of the local community. The successful implementation of this project is expected to inspire similar initiatives in the region.
