The Côte d'Ivoire government has commenced a nationwide operation to identify owners of motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles. The initiative, led by the Direction générale des transports terrestres et de la circulation (DGTTC), aims to enhance road safety and combat insecurity related to unidentified vehicles. As part of the process, vehicle owners are required to register on the official platform www.identification.moto.dgttc.ci.

To complete the identification process, owners must create a personal account, enter their vehicle's chassis number for customs verification, provide owner's information, and print an enrollment form. They are then required to present the enrollment form and vehicle documents at designated centers for the installation of a temporary license plate. The DGTTC has set a fixed cost of 10,000 FCFA for the identification and temporary plate.

Notably, the 10,000 FCFA fee will be deducted from the official definitive registration tariff, which is set at 49,100 FCFA. According to the DGTTC, this operation seeks to strengthen vehicle traceability and improve road safety. The identification process is a crucial step towards regulating the use of two- and three-wheeled vehicles in the country.

The DGTTC has urged vehicle owners to comply with the new regulations, emphasizing that the operation is part of a broader effort to enhance road safety and security. By identifying vehicle owners, authorities aim to reduce the risks associated with unregistered vehicles.

In Côte d'Ivoire, the use of motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles has become increasingly popular, particularly in urban areas. However, the lack of regulation has raised concerns about road safety and vehicle-related crimes. The identification operation is expected to help address these concerns.

The Côte d'Ivoire government has taken steps to ensure a smooth identification process, establishing a user-friendly online platform and designating centers for temporary license plate installation. Vehicle owners are encouraged to participate in the operation to avoid potential penalties.

The identification operation is part of a broader strategy to improve transportation and road safety in Côte d'Ivoire. The government aims to create a safer and more secure environment for motorists and pedestrians alike.
