In a bid to combat food insecurity and malnutrition in Côte d'Ivoire, the Banque Alimentaire de Côte d'Ivoire has launched its 6th National Collection. The three-day event, scheduled for November 6-8, 2026, aims to collect 30 tonnes of food donations in six cities across the country. The initiative, announced on November 3, 2026, in Abidjan, seeks to rally individuals, businesses, and organizations to contribute to the well-being of vulnerable populations.

The Banque Alimentaire de Côte d'Ivoire, established in 2019, focuses on fighting hunger, malnutrition, and food waste by collecting, recovering, and redistributing food to beneficiary structures. According to Barou Andréa-Sissie, the organization's representative, this food drive is not just about collecting products but also a national gathering of solidarity and civic engagement. The goal is to encourage people to contribute to improving the living conditions of the underprivileged.

The six cities participating in the food drive are Abidjan, Bouaké, Daloa, Yamoussoukro, San Pedro, and Grand-Bassam. A total of 43 stores will participate in the operation, with 37 in Abidjan and six in the other cities. Internal collections will also be organized in some companies and schools to broaden participation. Approximately 500 volunteers will be mobilized to welcome donors, raise awareness, and receive products at various sites.

The Banque Alimentaire is targeting over 15,000 donors during the three-day event and is seeking specific products, including canned goods, beans, flour, cereals, milk, cooking oil, rice, and pasta. Hygiene products and baby items are also accepted. Donations collected in Abidjan will be transported to the Banque Alimentaire's facilities for sorting, control, and storage before being redistributed to partner associations.

The organization has been providing support to over 3,000 people monthly, and since its inception, it has assisted more than 325,000 people nationwide. Beneficiaries receive support through partner associations, schools, and canteens that work with underprivileged families and individuals who lack sufficient resources for proper nutrition.

As the 6th edition of the National Collection approaches, the Banque Alimentaire is calling on the public to make donations during their visits to participating stores. Volunteers, identifiable by their orange vests and association communication materials, will be present to guide and inform donors. Businesses and schools are also encouraged to organize internal collections in collaboration with the Banque Alimentaire.

The Banque Alimentaire hopes to extend its chain of solidarity and reach its target of 30 tonnes of donations. The organization believes that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in the lives of those in need. With this nationwide food drive, the Banque Alimentaire aims to provide a concrete response to the food difficulties faced by thousands of people in Côte d'Ivoire.
