The municipality of Danané in Côte d'Ivoire has presented 75 development projects to the local population. These projects, which are either completed or currently underway, aim to improve the living standards of residents in the commune and its surrounding territory. The projects were showcased during a two-day visit organized by the municipal council, led by Mayor Lanciné Diabaté Kalifa, from October 27 to 28, 2026.
The development projects cover various sectors, including education, healthcare, market infrastructure, school canteens, transportation, and water supply. Specifically, the projects involve the construction and rehabilitation of schools, health centers, markets, school canteens, bridges, culverts, boreholes, and village pumps. Additionally, the projects include the construction of a new town hall, a fire station for the National Civil Protection Office, and the expansion of the water supply network.
Education infrastructure constitutes the bulk of the projects. According to the mayor's report, 38 projects have been completed, while 23 are currently underway, eight are near completion, five have just started, and one is awaiting site preparation. The financing of these projects is diversified, with 59 projects funded by the communal budget, 13 by the mayor's own funds, and two by a joint contribution from the mayor and the communal budget.
A Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) partnership is funding the Danané market project. The mayor emphasized that the visit aimed to increase awareness among the population, particularly those living outside the city center, about the municipality's achievements. He noted that the council had realized that their efforts were not well known to the public.
The projects' presentation is part of the municipal council's three-year management review. However, the report does not include social actions such as the provision of communal taxis, support for students traveling to France, and social assistance to the population. The mayor highlighted that these social initiatives will be presented separately.
The local population has expressed gratitude to the mayor and his team for the projects. Deho Denis, spokesperson for the collective of local chiefs, acknowledged the efforts made by the municipal council. During the two-day visit, participants had the opportunity to tour the various project sites.
The municipality's efforts to engage with the population and showcase its achievements reflect its commitment to transparency and accountability. With 75 projects underway or completed, the Danané municipality is making significant strides in improving the quality of life for its residents.
