The Burkinabè Council of Chargers (CBC) has announced that the 5th edition of the Translog Africa symposium will be held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from October 20-22, 2026. The event, which takes place under the theme "Resilience and Securing Logistics Chains in a Rapidly Changing Global Environment," aims to bring together over 300 participants to discuss pressing issues related to logistics and transportation in Africa.
The symposium will feature four panels, each focusing on a specific aspect of logistics and transportation. The first panel will explore strategies for resilience, security, and digital transformation in logistics chains. Other panels will discuss regional integration, corridor performance, industrialization, financing of logistics infrastructure, and economic intelligence. These discussions will help identify innovative solutions to challenges facing the logistics sector in Africa.
According to Denise Bado/Bouda, President of the CBC, the symposium will provide a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, expertise, and best practices in logistics and transportation. The event will also examine the impact of geopolitical tensions, rapid digitalization, and growing environmental concerns on logistics chains. By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, the symposium aims to enhance the performance and resilience of logistics chains in Africa.
The Translog Africa symposium has a long history, with the first edition taking place in 2007. Since then, the event has been held biennially, with the fourth edition occurring in 2024. The 2026 edition is being held under the high patronage of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso and Head of State. This year's event is expected to build on the successes of previous editions and further consolidate the symposium's position as a leading platform for logistics and transportation professionals in Africa.
The symposium will take place over 72 hours at the Ouaga 2000 conference center, providing ample opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions and networking. With 11 sub-themes to be explored across the four panels, the event promises to be a comprehensive and insightful examination of the logistics sector in Africa. By bringing together stakeholders from across the continent, the symposium aims to drive growth, innovation, and cooperation in the logistics and transportation industry.
Key topics to be discussed during the symposium include strategies for building resilience in logistics chains, securing and fluidifying port flows, and examining innovations in customs procedures within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Participants will also explore ways to enhance corridor performance, facilitate industrialization, and promote sustainable and environmentally friendly logistics practices.
The 5th Translog Africa symposium is expected to contribute significantly to the development of the logistics sector in Africa, promoting cooperation, innovation, and growth in the industry. With its focus on resilience, security, and sustainability, the event is poised to address some of the most pressing challenges facing logistics chains in Africa today.
