Sixteen students, comprising six ladies and 10 men, have graduated from the Devato Computer Services and Training Centre at Ashaiman in Accra, Ghana. The graduates completed Certificate programmes in Office Productivity, Hardware, Networking, Graphic Design, Software Development, and other disciplines. This was the second graduation ceremony of the centre, which was held on October 3, 2026. The event was themed “Equipping Skills for the Digital Economy.”
The chairman for the occasion, Evangelist Samuel Nyamavor, Chief Executive Director (CEO) of La Ken Technologies Limited, advised the graduates to use their skills to start something, as the digital economy rewards creators. He emphasized that they should not wait for employment alone, but rather use their skills to start their own businesses, help shops go online, design for businesses, repair systems, and train others. Nyamavor described the graduates as IT professionals, no longer just computer users.
The graduates were encouraged by Mrs. Georgina Naa Maku Quaittoo, Editor of The Spectator, to surround themselves with positive influences, ambitious peers, and supportive mentors who will elevate their thinking. She advised them to remember that the skills they have acquired are a foundation, not a finish line. Quaittoo emphasized that in the world of technology, what they know today will change tomorrow, and the most valuable skill they possess is their ability to learn, adapt, and master new concepts quickly.
Reverend Anthony Fynn, College Director, lauded the resilience of the graduates despite the challenges they faced and encouraged them to maintain high character, value important life lessons, and use their education responsibly. He advised them to use their education to build, uplift, and innovate, and to be leaders who lead with character and empathy. Fynn emphasized that success is not merely measured by the titles they hold or the salaries they earn, but by the positive impact they make on the lives of others.
The Devato Computer Services and Training Centre has been training students in the field of Information Technology since its inception in 2008. The Centre currently runs certificate and West African Examination Centre (WAEC) accredited courses, including Diploma in Information Technology, Business Administration, and Diploma in Office Management. Other courses offered include Computer Hardware Networking, Graphic Designing, and newly introduced programmes like photography, videography, and retouching.
The graduates were presented with certificates on their successful completion of their individual courses. The Centre's programmes aim to equip students with relevant, employable skills to bridge the digital gap in the community and empower the youth. Evangelist Nyamavor acknowledged the facilitator for giving these skills to the graduates and described Devato as a centre that empowers the youth with relevant skills.
Key points from the graduation ceremony include the importance of using acquired skills to start one's own business, the need for continuous learning and adaptation in the technology industry, and the value of maintaining high character and using education responsibly. The graduates were also encouraged to seek guidance from trusted mentors and not to imitate others blindly.
