The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the National Bureau of Major Projects of Burkina (BN-GPB), held a public conference on November 5, 2026, in Kaya, Burkina Faso. The event marked the beginning of the second phase of a nationwide campaign aimed at promoting civism, patriotism, and a culture of peace. The conference brought together key stakeholders from the Sandbondtenga province to discuss the importance of civic engagement and national commitment.
The campaign, which will cover all 47 provinces in Burkina Faso, follows an initial phase that targeted the country's 13 regions. The Ministry of Justice is taking the debate on civic engagement to the provincial level, focusing on three main areas: respect for laws and patriotism, promoting dialogue and coexistence in a challenging security context, and embracing the ideals of the Progressive and Popular Revolution (RPP).
The conference in Kaya drew a large turnout from the local community, with the high commissioner of Sandbondtenga province, Idrissa Gansonré, expressing his appreciation for the event. He encouraged the population to adopt the values of civism, tolerance, and social cohesion, emphasizing that this would enable them to effectively support the country's leadership, led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in building a more prosperous Burkina Faso.
Denis Dabouné, Director of Civic Education and Citizenship at the Ministry of Justice, highlighted the significance of these conferences as a direct channel for dialogue with the population on the foundations of the RPP. He stressed that the ideals of the revolution would serve as a guiding force, and that civism, discipline, and patriotism were essential for the Burkinabé people to achieve their goals.
As part of the campaign, the Ministry of Justice has distributed 100 copies of the RPP Manifesto and announced plans to establish dedicated civic spaces for gatherings and patriotic discussions in the provinces. The ministry aims to sustain these principles on the ground, with the ultimate goal of translating these commitments into concrete civic behaviors.
The campaign's success will depend on the active participation of local communities and their willingness to adopt the values promoted by the Ministry of Justice. The "Citizen Pact" is expected to be signed by provincial stakeholders, solidifying their commitment to the ideals of the RPP. The Ministry of Justice remains committed to engaging with citizens across the country to foster a culture of civism and patriotism.
The second phase of the campaign will continue to engage citizens in discussions on the importance of civic engagement, patriotism, and social cohesion. By taking the debate to the provincial level, the Ministry of Justice aims to ensure that the values of the RPP are understood and adopted by all Burkinabé citizens, ultimately contributing to the country's development and prosperity.
