The second phase of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation (JEPPC) has begun in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The event, themed "Produce Burkinabè, Consume Burkinabè!", aims to encourage citizens to support national production and consumption as a means of achieving economic sovereignty. This phase will run from October 2 to 16, 2026.

The initiative was launched by President Ibrahim Traoré, who emphasized the importance of producing, transforming, and consuming national products. He noted that the fragility of any link in the production chain can affect the entire process of building economic sovereignty. The President highlighted the country's agricultural potential, citing over seven million tons of cereals produced and over one million tons of rice.

To achieve economic sovereignty, President Traoré stressed the need to add value to national productions. He mentioned the importance of developing local transformation capacities for products such as cotton, shea butter, sesame, mango, leather, and livestock. The President also called on citizens to change their consumption habits, prioritizing national products over imported ones.

A key aspect of this phase is the organization of a government exhibition showcasing the achievements and progress of the Revolutionary Progressive People's (RPP) at the Ouagadougou International Craft Fair (SIAO) from October 2 to 9. The exhibition will feature demonstrations, practical presentations, and an "Alley of Services to the People" offering various administrative services.

President Traoré outlined the responsibilities of different economic actors, including producers, transformers, industrialists, traders, and consumers. He urged producers to increase and improve production quality, while transformers and industrialists should enhance transformation capacities. Traders are encouraged to promote national products, and consumers are advised to prioritize national products and consider their origin.

The President also proposed making national preference a reflex in administrations, schools, ceremonies, and households. He suggested prioritizing local products in canteens, receptions, ceremonies, and public procurement. The President emphasized that patriotism requires excellent national products.

The event's new slogan, "All for Made in Burkina: Let's Make Each Purchase an Act of Sovereignty," reflects the focus on promoting national production and consumption. The government's efforts aim to create a sense of national pride and responsibility among citizens, encouraging them to contribute to the country's economic development.
