The Burkinabé government has taken steps to address the challenges of road safety, parking management, and public transportation in the country. Three innovative projects have been selected in the "Transport, Mobility, and Logistics" category of the second edition of Le Faso Digital 2026. These projects, Alerte Contravention, FasoParking, and SOTRACO, aim to provide digital solutions to these pressing concerns. They were chosen from numerous submissions and will benefit from a support program offered by Digitales Solidaires, a partner of the event.

Adama Sy Traoré, an engineering and technology expert, has designed Alerte Contravention, a free mobile application aimed at promoting responsible driving practices. The app reminds drivers to respect speed limits, wear their seatbelts, and avoid using their phones while driving. Unlike other applications that alert drivers to the presence of speed cameras, Alerte Contravention does not store data on camera locations. Instead, it encourages drivers to monitor their speed throughout their journey, displaying their current speed in large characters and using a color-coded system to indicate when they exceed a user-defined threshold.

Alerte Contravention also features a function that prompts users to confirm they have fastened their seatbelts before starting a journey. The app will not begin tracking the user's journey until this confirmation is provided. Additionally, it detects when the user is using another application while driving and displays a reminder about the risks of distraction. The app is designed to be user-friendly and has already been published on Google Play, with an iOS version currently under review.

Another project, FasoParking, aims to modernize parking management in urban areas. Developed by a team of four entrepreneurs, FasoParking offers a digital solution for managing parking spaces, payments, and revenue tracking. The system seeks to streamline parking operations, making it easier for users to find and pay for parking spaces. This project addresses the challenges of manual parking management, which can lead to difficulties in tracking transactions and managing parking infrastructure.

The third project, SOTRACO, is a platform for subscribing to and managing urban transportation services. Developed by Abdoul Gafar Zongo, SOTRACO aims to simplify the process of subscribing to public transport services, making it more convenient for users. The platform is expected to reduce the administrative burden associated with traditional subscription methods, which often require physical documentation and lengthy procedures.

These three projects demonstrate the innovative spirit of Burkinabé entrepreneurs and their commitment to addressing the country's transportation challenges. By leveraging digital technologies, they aim to improve road safety, enhance parking management, and increase access to public transportation. The support program offered by Digitales Solidaires will help these projects refine their solutions and scale their impact.

The introduction of these digital innovations is expected to have a positive impact on the daily lives of Burkinabé citizens. By making transportation safer, more efficient, and more accessible, these projects can contribute to the country's economic growth and development. As the Burkinabé government continues to prioritize transportation infrastructure, initiatives like Le Faso Digital 2026 will play a crucial role in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the sector.
