The Fondation Cheick de Kontélé Nouroullah de Tema-Bokin has announced that it will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Cheick Abdoul Karim Sankara's spiritual commitment on November 8, 2026, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The event was announced during a press conference on October 31, 2026. The celebration aims to express gratitude to Allah for the journey so far and mark two decades of spiritual commitment by Cheick Abdoul Karim Sankara.
The ceremony, which will take place in the Balkuy neighborhood of Ouagadougou, will be held under the theme "20 Years of Spirituality: From Answered Prayer to Blessing, for Sustainable Spiritual Health and Well-being". According to Cheick Abdoul Karim Sankara, the theme reflects the organizers' desire to highlight the fundamental place of spirituality in individual and collective life. He emphasized that the day will not be just a commemoration, but a true gathering, prayer, fraternity, and community engagement.
Several activities are planned for the occasion, including a grand day of invocations and prayers for peace, stability, prosperity, and blessing for Burkina Faso. There will also be moments of encounter, fraternity, and sharing between the faithful and different components of the community. Participants will have the opportunity to discover the well-being products of the Koun Faya Koun and NOUR ranges.
The day will also mark the inauguration of a soap production and transformation unit, NOUR. According to Cheick Abdoul Karim Sankara, this initiative is part of a dynamic of valorizing local know-how and promoting economic activities. The inauguration of the production unit testifies to the desire to move from intention to action, to valorize local know-how, and to contribute to the creation of economic activities.
The celebration will be held under the patronage of El Hadj Moussa Koanda, president of the Muslim Community of Burkina Faso, and the co-patronage of El Hadj Mohamady Zoungrana, president-director general of Asmafa Immobilier and Services. The event will also benefit from the moral and spiritual authority of El Hadj Mouhamoud Bandé, president of Islamic affairs of the Muslim Community of Burkina Faso.
In the run-up to the event, Cheick Abdoul Karim Sankara launched a call for mobilization of all components of the population, without distinction. He particularly invited the youth of Balkuy and surrounding neighborhoods to take ownership of this initiative. An operation of citizen cleaning of the Balkuy terrain, located at the level of the reforestation of August 3 and which will host the celebration, is planned for Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The event is expected to bring together various stakeholders, including the Muslim community and other well-wishers.
