On November 2, 2026, Burkina Faso's Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Pingdwendé Gilbert OUEDRAOGO, participated in the traditional monthly celebration of national colors at the Kadiogo Administrative Hotel. He was joined by his colleagues, Ministers Dr. Aminata ZERBO/SABANÉ and Lieutenant-Colonel Passowendé Pélagie KABRÉ/KABORÉ. The event was attended by personnel from various ministerial departments housed at the hotel.
During the ceremony, Minister OUEDRAOGO addressed a message to the public servants present. He began by paying tribute to the Defense and Security Forces, who celebrated their 66th anniversary on November 1. Despite ongoing security challenges, the Minister acknowledged significant progress in the reconquest of territory and the fight against terrorism, allowing displaced persons to return home and activities to resume in liberated areas.
The Minister emphasized that Burkina Faso has earned admiration on the international stage and remains a frequented and frequentable country. He cited the concurrent hosting of three major events as evidence, which counters the narrative of a country in crisis. These events include the 18th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO), the 37th International Tour of Faso, and the 15th edition of the Laongo International Granite Sculpture Symposium.
The 18th edition of SIAO, taking place from October 30 to November 8, features 15 participating countries. The 37th International Tour of Faso, happening during the same period, brings together 80 cyclists from around a dozen countries in Africa and Europe, marking the return of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Additionally, the 15th edition of the Laongo International Granite Sculpture Symposium, running from November 2 to 23, gathers 45 sculptors from 13 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and America.
These events, which attract participants from worldwide, demonstrate that Burkina Faso maintains its place on the international stage. The Minister's statements highlight the country's resilience and its ability to host significant international events despite security challenges.
In his address, Minister OUEDRAOGO also encouraged the personnel to approach the end of the year with rigor, solidarity, and love for one another. He emphasized that unity and solidarity among Burkinabè people are essential for building lasting peace and a strong country.
The celebration of national colors and the Minister's address underscore the government's efforts to promote national unity and showcase Burkina Faso's stability and international presence. The events taking place in the country demonstrate its capacity to host significant gatherings and its determination to move forward despite challenges.
