The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCI-BF) has taken steps to support the formalization of 73 nursery and landscaping entrepreneurs. On October 28, 2026, the CCI-BF handed over formalization documents to the beneficiaries in Ouagadougou. This initiative aims to facilitate access to administrative documents and financing, promoting the development of their activities and creation of decent jobs.

Formalization of enterprises is a crucial lever for the development of the private sector in Burkina Faso. The CCI-BF has been actively involved in supporting these entrepreneurs in obtaining necessary administrative documents, including the trade register and unique tax identifier (IFU). This support enables them to access financing from the SAFINE microfinance institution, which is linked to the Chamber of Commerce.

The formalization process also offers opportunities for nursery and landscaping entrepreneurs to contribute to national reforestation initiatives. These entrepreneurs play a vital role in producing forest, fruit, ornamental, and medicinal plants, as well as managing green spaces in cities and villages. The CCI-BF has highlighted their importance in the 2026 national reforestation campaign, which aims to plant around 15 million trees with an expected survival rate of 80%.

Roland Achille Sow, President of the CCI-BF's special consular delegation, emphasized the significance of formalization for the growth and development of these enterprises. He encouraged the entrepreneurs to maintain rigorous management and respect administrative and fiscal obligations. Sow also reaffirmed the CCI-BF's commitment to supporting the beneficiaries throughout the process.

Tasséré Tiemtoré, President of the Board of Directors of the Faîtière des sociétés coopératives avec conseil d’administration des pépiniéristes et paysagistes du Burkina Faso, expressed gratitude for the formalization support. He believes that this initiative will enable the entrepreneurs to access markets and participate more significantly in the national economy. Tiemtoré also encouraged other entrepreneurs to formalize their enterprises, citing the benefits of participating in national life and contributing to the country's development.

The formalization process was made possible through a request from the cooperative society to the CCI-BF. After approving the request, the CCI-BF provided support and training to the entrepreneurs, ultimately leading to the issuance of formalization documents. This initiative demonstrates the CCI-BF's commitment to promoting the growth and development of small enterprises in Burkina Faso.

The support provided to the nursery and landscaping entrepreneurs is part of a broader effort to promote economic development in Burkina Faso. The CCI-BF's initiative aims to create decent jobs and stimulate economic growth through the formalization of small enterprises. By providing access to administrative documents and financing, the CCI-BF is helping to level the playing field for these entrepreneurs and enable them to contribute more significantly to the national economy.
