Francesca Brenda Opuko, CEO and Founder of Solution Oasis Limited, has built a successful business empire, Beauty Secrets, which specializes in producing high-quality organic skincare products. Her entrepreneurial journey began with a simple yet effective approach, going house-to-house to introduce her products to potential customers. With a family background of strong entrepreneurial women, including her grandmother, a cloth trader, and her mother, who established the first vocational school in northern Ghana, Opuko was inspired to take the leap.

Beauty Secrets works with 600 women in northern Ghana, producing shea butter, a key ingredient in their skincare products. The company processes the shea butter into soap flakes, which are then used to create black soap or infused with oils, herbs, and scents to produce a range of organic skincare products. Opuko's business has grown significantly, with 25 employees covering management, production, logistics, sales, and merchandising. The company's products are now available in supermarkets and malls across Ghana and are exported to West Africa, Eastern and Southern Africa, the US, and Australia.

Access to finance has been a crucial factor in Beauty Secrets' growth. Opuko recalls her early struggles in securing funding, including a memorable experience at a bank where she was denied a loan due to a misconception about her husband's wealth. However, she persevered and built her financial education over the years, learning the importance of keeping good records and communicating effectively with financial institutions. Today, Opuko can make informed financial decisions and has secured loans and grants to finance her business, including a two-year loan from Fidelity Bank, supported by the Mastercard Foundation.

With access to good sources of finance, Beauty Secrets has been able to create economies of scale in terms of raw material purchases and plan for the future. The company can now focus on expanding its operations, hiring the right people, and training them well. Opuko believes that empowering women entrepreneurs is key to driving economic growth and creating a positive impact on families and communities. Her business has created opportunities for young people, including part-time workers who can further their education while gaining valuable work experience.

Opuko is passionate about the potential of women entrepreneurs to drive change and create a better future. She encourages women to be more ambitious in their business endeavors and to seek out larger amounts of financing to grow their businesses. According to Opuko, investing in women entrepreneurs can have a transformative impact on the economy, and she is committed to supporting and nurturing the next generation of female entrepreneurs.

As Beauty Secrets continues to grow, Opuko has set her sights on building a legacy. The company has acquired land in Goma, Mayenda, to construct a new factory that will provide better working conditions for the women cooperatives that produce black soap using traditional methods. The new factory will feature eco-cookers and a clean environment, surrounded by trees, and will enable the women to continue their communal processing in a healthier and more sustainable way.

Opuko's vision for Beauty Secrets is to become a multi-million dollar company, internationally competitive, and a leader in the organic skincare industry. She hopes to retire one day and pass the business on to the next generation, confident that her legacy will continue to inspire and empower women entrepreneurs in Ghana and beyond. With her business, Opuko is taking Africa to the world, one product at a time.
