Bishop Reuben Kisembo Amooti of Rwenzori Diocese has called on parents to refrain from putting Primary Seven candidates under pressure ahead of the Primary Leaving Examinations. Instead, he encouraged them to offer support, motivation, and guidance. The bishop made this appeal during a dedication mass at Green Circle Primary School in Fort Portal on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

According to Bishop Kisembo, excessive pressure from parents can cause fear and anxiety among learners, ultimately affecting their performance. He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for the candidates to excel. During the service, 29 students were confirmed into the Church of Uganda, and 117 Primary Seven candidates were dedicated to God as they prepare for PLE.

The bishop also cautioned school managements against examination malpractice, urging them to allow children to write what they can manage. He stressed that cheating tarnishes the name of schools and undermines the integrity of the examination process. Furthermore, he encouraged candidates to put in much effort to value their parents' money, be disciplined, believe in themselves, and utilize the remaining time well.

In addition to his message to candidates and school managements, Bishop Kisembo emphasized the importance of parents continuing to pay PTA contributions. He noted that government support alone is not enough to run schools, and that parental involvement is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of educational institutions.

The Headteacher of Green Circle Primary School, Johnson Ayesiga, expressed gratitude to the bishop for the dedication service. He appreciated the staff for their hard work in developing learners spiritually and academically and wished the candidates success in their exams. Ayesiga encouraged the candidates to remain confident and trust in God, viewing PLE as just another exam.

Bishop Kisembo also addressed the newly confirmed students, urging them to trust in God, have Christian faith, and follow God's commitments. He emphasized the importance of their spiritual growth and development as they move forward in their lives.

The dedication service at Green Circle Primary School was a significant event, highlighting the importance of spiritual support and guidance for students as they prepare for their exams. The bishop's message served as a reminder to parents, school managements, and candidates of the crucial role they play in ensuring a successful and stress-free examination experience.
