Best Diplomats, a global organisation focused on diplomacy, leadership, and youth development, has announced the appointment of Gloria Onahi Uko as its Country Representative in Nigeria. This appointment was made based on merit and is subject to a six-month probationary period. During this period, Uko's performance, professionalism, and commitment to the organisation's mission will be assessed. As Country Representative, Uko will be responsible for representing, promoting, and supporting Best Diplomats' conferences and initiatives in Nigeria.
As Country Representative, Uko's responsibilities will include engaging with academic institutions, youth organisations, and diplomatic circles to promote participation in Best Diplomats' international conferences. She will also support the organisation's outreach and public relations activities. Best Diplomats conducts diplomatic simulations modelled on institutions such as the United Nations, European Union, and African Union. The organisation's focus is on developing young people and emerging leaders through practical programmes in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership.
Best Diplomats' mission is to support youth development worldwide, with a vision centred on bringing people together and protecting the rights and interests of future generations. The organisation has a series of international programmes scheduled to take place in different parts of the world. These programmes include conferences in Istanbul, Türkiye; London, United Kingdom; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; New Jersey, United States; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Geneva, Switzerland.
Uko's appointment comes ahead of these international programmes, which are expected to address issues such as global food security, energy, the economics of war, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, humanitarian diplomacy, and international cooperation. Best Diplomats is also scheduled to hold a United Nations Immersion Programme in Geneva, in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
With her new role, Uko is expected to serve as a link between Best Diplomats and Nigerian youths, educational institutions, and other stakeholders interested in international diplomacy, leadership, and global affairs. Before her appointment, Uko received scholarships from Best Diplomats to participate in conferences in Dubai and Geneva. Uko holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Benue State University, Makurdi, and a Master's degree in International Business and Management from the University of Plymouth, England.
Uko, a native of Benue State, obtained her Master's degree in 2025 with distinction in her dissertation. At the University of Plymouth, she also served as Course/Students' Representative. Uko, popularly known as Queen Glorious, was crowned Queen of Northern Nigeria in 2020. She used this platform to champion the cause of vulnerable people, the girl child, and youth empowerment across northern Nigeria.
Uko is also the founder of the Glorious Outreach Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment, training, and community development. She is a member of the Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development (MIHSD) and a volunteer with the Committee for Youth Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) Nigeria. Uko has participated in several youth development programmes in Nigeria and beyond, including the Benue State Children Parliament.
