The Celestial Church of Christ in Benin has outlined special liturgical arrangements for its All Saints' Day celebration on November 1, 2026. In a circular note dated October 28, 2026, signed by Reverend Pastor B.A. Adéogun, the church's headquarters in Porto-Novo specified the dispositions to be observed. The faithful are invited to come to church with candles, incense, and the names of their deceased loved ones.
According to the circular, the church's parishes will announce that worshippers should come to the Sunday, November 1, 2026 service with candles, incense, and the names of their deceased family members. The service will be celebrated like a regular Sunday service until the collection of offerings. Before the service, the altar master will set up two seven-branched candelabras with seven unlit candles each and a Bible with the names of deceased individuals from the faithful's families.
During the service, after the collection of offerings, the altar master will light the candles on the candelabras. A designated devancier will then kneel before the candelabras for a prayer in memory of the deceased, which will include the Glory Be to the Father, a special prayer, the Pater, and Gloria. Seven devanciers will then stand at the entrance of the altar for a prayer for all worshippers and deceased family members.
The prayer will be followed by actions of thanksgiving, which will be conducted in a specific order. The faithful and family members of the deceased will give thanks first, followed by thanks for the new month and then regular actions of thanksgiving for the day. The service will then proceed normally, with a closing canticle, prayer, Pater, Gloria, and final blessing.
The Reverend Pastor B.A. Adéogun, in his signed note, reminded the church's diocesan leaders, regional presidents, and parishioners of the special arrangements for the All Saints' Day celebration. He encouraged the faithful to participate fully in the service, which is a special occasion to honor their deceased loved ones.
