The Belgian cyclist Timothée Dupont, riding for the continental team Tarteletto Isorex, emerged victorious in the Classique Djamaa El Djazair, held on Saturday in Algiers. This event marked the beginning of the 19th edition of the Grand Prix International de la ville d'Alger, which will take place from October 5 to 7, covering a total distance of 605 kilometers. Dupont completed the race in 2 hours, 54 minutes, and 4 seconds.
Dupont's victory was well-received, as he expressed his satisfaction and joy at winning the international event. He attributed his success to the hard work of his team, stating that they played a crucial role in his achievement. The podium was completed by Spanish cyclist Jonathan Lastra Martinez and Polish cyclist Danny Van Der Tuuk, both from the EUS team, who finished second and third, respectively, with the same time as the winner.

A total of 20 teams from 15 countries are participating in the Grand Prix International de la ville d'Alger, which is categorized as 2.2 on the UCI Africa Tour. The competition will continue with the first stage, a 115.12 km ride from Rouiba to Zemmouri, scheduled for October 5. The second stage will cover 134.52 km from Bab El Oued to Zeralda, passing through Tipasa.
The third and final stage will be a circuit race in the new city of Sidi Abdallah, covering 11.41 km with 10 laps. The course will take the cyclists through the city's main boulevards, including the peripheral boulevard connecting residential areas and the university pole. Teams participating in the event include seven national teams and seven foreign teams.
Among the participating teams are the Algerian national team, as well as teams from Oman, Tunisia, Cameroon, Benin, Ethiopia, and Saudi Arabia. Foreign teams, such as Global Cycling Team from the Netherlands, Embrace The World Team from Germany, and Tarteletto-Isorex from Belgium, will also be competing. Several local teams, including Madar Pro Cycling Team and MC Alger, will also take part in the event.
The final stage, known as the Classique de la capitale, will take place on October 9, featuring an 11.2 km circuit with 11 laps in Algiers. Cyclists will ride through notable landmarks, including Boulevard Zighoud-Youcef, Avenue Pasteur, and the Place des Martyrs.
