Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, has called on key stakeholders of the party in the Ashanti Region to use their experience, expertise, and political capital to strengthen the party's reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections. He made this appeal at a strategic stakeholder engagement in Kumasi, following the successful election of the NPP's new national executives. The meeting brought together founding members, members of the Council of Patrons and Council of Elders, former and current Members of Parliament, and former Chief Executive Officers of state institutions.

The engagement, which was attended by prominent party members, aimed to reconnect the party's leadership with its grassroots structures. Dr. Bawumia charged the stakeholders to take ownership of their respective constituencies and operational bases. He emphasised the importance of addressing issues of apathy and internal disenchantment early to build a stronger and more coordinated campaign structure for 2028.

According to the NPP Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, Dr. Keskine Owusu Poku, Dr. Bawumia outlined his broader vision for the party and explained how the expertise of the stakeholders could be harnessed to support policy execution should the NPP return to government. The stakeholders used the closed-door session to raise concerns about the party's structures, grassroots mobilisation, and regional strategy.

Dr. Bawumia responded to the issues raised by the stakeholders, and a major outcome of the meeting was a decision to institutionalise the stakeholder consultations. The meetings are expected to be held every three months to assess progress, address emerging challenges, and refine the party's strategy towards 2028.

Earlier, Ashanti Regional Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah urged party stalwarts to remain actively involved in organisational affairs and regularly share their experience with regional, constituency, and polling station executives to strengthen coordination across the party's structures. He emphasised the need for the party to work together to achieve its goals.

The stakeholder engagement is part of Dr. Bawumia's efforts to strengthen the NPP's structures and build a strong campaign team ahead of the 2028 general elections. The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman expressed his gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for his leadership and vision for the party.

The meeting demonstrated Dr. Bawumia's commitment to building a strong and inclusive party that can effectively engage with its grassroots and deliver on its promises. The NPP is expected to implement the decisions taken at the meeting to ensure a strong showing in the 2028 general elections.
