A delegation of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, led by Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, has paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. The visit was to inform the Government about the 10th Triennial Congress, scheduled for October 14 to 16, 2026, in Accra. This congress will be the first to be held in Africa.

Rev. Wengam said the event was expected to bring spiritual and economic benefits to Ghana and expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Government for supporting preparations. He appealed to the Ministry to facilitate visa applications for international participants through Ghana's diplomatic missions abroad. The congress is expected to attract participants from around the world.

The delegation also announced that former Malawian President Rev. Dr Lazarus Chakwera, a former General Superintendent of the Malawi Assemblies of God, would attend the congress. Rev. Wengam was accompanied by Rev. Albert Anane, General Secretary, and Rev. Andrews Awintia, LOC Chairman, among others. The meeting with the Minister was also attended by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister James Gyakye Quayson and other senior officials.

Minister Ablakwa commended the Fellowship for choosing Ghana to host the congress and acknowledged the Assemblies of God's contributions to global evangelisation and peace. He assured the delegation of the Government's support, saying President Mahama had directed the Ministry to provide the necessary assistance. The Minister also appointed two senior Ministry officials to the Local Organising Committee (LOC).

During the visit, Rev. Wengam presented a Bible to the Minister and urged him to be guided by the Word of God in the discharge of his duties. The Minister appreciated the gesture and acknowledged the importance of faith in the country's development. The meeting was a significant step towards ensuring the success of the congress.

The 10th Triennial Congress is expected to feature various activities, including spiritual sessions, workshops, and discussions on global issues. The event will provide a platform for participants to share experiences and ideas on how to promote peace and understanding.
