Antonio Edem Asinyo has announced his bid for the position of Deputy National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana. He is asking party delegates to evaluate his leadership credentials based on his track record in youth mobilisation, public service, and leadership development. According to Asinyo, his years of work with young people and the NDC have prepared him for this role. He made his intention known in a press statement issued on Wednesday, September 30.

Asinyo's involvement with the NDC dates back to his high school days when he joined the NDC Youth Forum. He participated in weekly meetings at Kuku Hill and later joined the campaign for the election of former President John Evans Atta Mills. As a member of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), Asinyo mobilised students across various campuses, including the University of Ghana, UPSA, and Accra Polytechnic. This experience laid the foundation for his future roles in politics and public service.

Asinyo's public service experience includes roles at the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as spokesperson to Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and former Finance Minister. In addition to his public service, Asinyo has experience in the private sector, leading operations for an agribusiness venture and coordinating external communications and media relations in the mining sector.

Asinyo's leadership experience extends beyond Ghana's borders. He helped develop debate and youth leadership programmes across Ghanaian universities and was elected the first African President of the World Universities Debating Council in Cape Town. As a Chevening Scholar, Asinyo studied Communication for Development at the University of Reading, which broadened his global perspective.

Asinyo's approach to leadership is youth-centred, putting people before politics in line with the founding values of the NDC. He stated that his life's work has been in pursuit of this vision. Asinyo is now seeking to translate his experience into a formal leadership role within the NDC's national youth structure.

Asinyo's bid for the Deputy National Youth Organiser position is built on his extensive experience in youth mobilisation, public service, and leadership development. He is seeking the support of party members to contribute to the development of both the NDC and Ghana. Asinyo looks forward to engaging party members throughout the process.

Asinyo's message to party delegates is to look at his record of service before trusting his word. He believes that his experience has prepared him for the greater call of serving as Deputy National Youth Organiser of the NDC. The outcome of the election will determine whether Asinyo's experience and vision will play a role in shaping the future of Ghana's youth.
