Before Nkrumah's emergence, the current Ghanaian territory was not a unified entity. The Gold Coast Colony covered parts of Western, Central, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions, while Ashanti and the Northern Territories were separate administrative areas.
Trans-Volta Togoland was under British administration after World War I, following the division of German colonial possessions. Against this historical backdrop, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah argued that Nkrumah's contribution to modern Ghana cannot be compared to that of other nationalists. He emphasized that Nkrumah deserves distinct recognition in Ghana's history.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah praised the organizers and participants of Nkrumahfest for honoring Nkrumah's memory and legacy. He handed over his remaining speaking time to Professor Patrick Lumumba, who was scheduled to discuss Nkrumah's contributions to Ghana and Africa.
