The grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election has started across Nigeria, with women holding daily meetings to strategise on securing victory for the President. The mobilisation is being coordinated by Dr Betta Edu, Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, under the leadership of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The directorate has begun activating communities housing polling units, with robust engagements and planning currently underway. Women across various wards and local government areas in Jigawa, Kano, Zamfara, Kwara, Imo, Cross River, Benue, Plateau, Oyo, Ondo, Rivers and Osun states are participating in meetings. They are strategising on ways to mobilise more women and men in their communities for Tinubu's re-election.
The mobilisation effort is taking place in 176,846 communities across Nigeria. Women in wards such as Ward 1 in Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Dawaki Ward and 15 other wards in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano State, as well as wards in Bebeji, Sabongari and Kano Municipal, are actively engaged in the mobilisation.
According to the APC, the women are motivated by the positive changes in their lives and families under the Tinubu administration. They believe these changes should be sustained through his re-election. The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has been highlighted as a key initiative, helping prevent university students from dropping out due to financial difficulties by providing school fees and upkeep support.
The Renewed Hope Initiatives of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, have also made a significant difference in the lives of women and their families. These empowerment programmes have contributed to the enthusiasm among women for Tinubu's re-election. The APC is optimistic about the mobilisation effort, targeting 40 million women nationwide.
The women have expressed their conviction that with continued energy and unity, the January 2027 elections will be delivered for President Tinubu with ease. The mobilisation effort is a significant move by the APC to ensure a strong grassroots base for the President's re-election bid.
