Support groups and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have intensified efforts to mobilise voters for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, is expanding a nationwide mobilisation structure. The RHA plans to deploy 25 canvassers to each of Nigeria's 176,846 polling units, resulting in 4,421,150 grassroots canvassers nationwide. This initiative aims to engage voters at the community level and promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
The RHA is also strengthening its media component, with a weekly television outreach and an intensified digital campaign. According to RHA Director of Logistics, Shehu Bala Usman, the digital campaign will focus on explaining government policies and programmes, countering misinformation, and connecting with voters at the grassroots level. This effort builds on the mobilisation structure unveiled by Uzodimma at the RHA National Mobilisation Retreat in Abuja in June. The RHA's network will cover the six geopolitical zones, 36 states, and the Federal Capital Territory.
In Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo expressed confidence in the APC's chances of performing strongly in the state. He presented the party's candidates for the 2027 elections during a mobilisation rally in Ologbo Wards 9 and 10 in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area. Okpebholo urged party members to remain united and work for the APC's candidates. The Edo APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party is targeting 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in the state, with mobilisation efforts underway across the 18 local government areas.
The APC's mobilisation efforts are not limited to Edo State. In Abuja, the Bichi's Ward Wide Ambassadors for Tinubu 2027 support group has set a target of 10 million votes for the President. Convener of the support group, Edward Abakpa, announced the target at the group's official launch. The group cited investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare as reasons for their support. Abakpa emphasized the importance of consolidating the reforms initiated by Tinubu since 2023.
Uzodimma's mobilisation structure is designed to run through the six geopolitical zones, 36 states, and the Federal Capital Territory, covering 774 local government areas, 8,809 wards, and 176,846 polling units. The RHA's efforts aim to connect national communication with grassroots mobilisation in communities, markets, campuses, wards, and polling units. The group plans to engage Nigerians directly through facts, engagement, and grassroots interaction.
The APC's early push to build grassroots networks ahead of the 2027 elections is gaining momentum. State party structures and APC-aligned groups are widening their mobilisation efforts.
