Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for the Yewa South-Ipokia Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, has launched an educational support project in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State. The project aims to provide essential learning materials to students from low-income households. Taiwo, the immediate past Chief of Staff to Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, stated that the outreach was triggered by reports that many children in the border region failed to resume for the new academic session due to financial constraints.
The educational support project includes the distribution of core instructional and personal supplies, customized exercise books, school sandals, and socks to hundreds of students. During visits to beneficiary institutions, Taiwo noted that rural pupils faced challenges beyond books and footwear, with many attending classes in visibly tattered uniforms. He committed to fully funding and distributing new school uniforms to all affected indigent students before the end of the following week.
The project will expand into Yewa South Local Government Area to ensure broader coverage across the federal constituency. The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, lauded the intervention as a crucial booster to municipal efforts. His administration has renovated and commissioned approximately 15 primary and secondary schools to upgrade learning infrastructure.
Hon. Isiaka Aderonmu, former Ipokia Chairman and current Commissioner with the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), emphasized that providing basic tools directly restores dignity to vulnerable students and boosts classroom engagement. The schools covered during the outreach included Ipokia Local Government Primary School, Maun Community Commercial Secondary School, Ipokia, and Community High School, Tube.
The educational support project also covered Methodist Primary School, Agada; Methodist Primary School, Iganmi; and Ogbe Community High School, Ajegunle Mede. Taiwo was accompanied by a delegation of political and community leaders, including Ipokia APC Chairman Hon. Wale Agbetokun Onikoyi and Vice Chairman Hon. Grace Okewole.
The delegation also included former state lawmakers and former council chairmen Hon. Abiodun Akovoyon, Hon. Dosu Amos, Hon. Adeniyi Hosu, and Hon. Kabir Abolurin. The project aims to address the educational needs of students in the Yewa South-Ipokia Federal Constituency.
The initiative has been welcomed by the local community, with many stakeholders commending Taiwo's efforts to improve education in the area. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the educational outcomes of students in the constituency.
