The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stepped up its campaign activities ahead of the state-to-state presidential campaign, with the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State capital. The meeting, presided over by National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, aimed to ensure the party's readiness for a nationwide victory. The APC's Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has been on a whistle-stop visit to traditional rulers, including the Sultan of Sokoto, the Oba of Lagos, the Oba of Benin, and the Shehu of Borno.
In Maiduguri, Governor Babagana Zulum launched the 2027 campaign for President Tinubu and Borno State governorship candidate Mustapha Gubio, defying a downpour. Meanwhile, in Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf inaugurated 50 campaign vehicles donated by the President Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement, led by businessman Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo). This move is expected to boost the party's campaign efforts in Kano, known for its high voter turnout in previous elections.
The APC-PCC has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 election, citing the administration's economic reforms as a reason for continuity. According to PCC spokesman Mallam Alwan Hassan, Tinubu's re-election is critical for stability, sustainability, and consolidating progress achieved over the past three years. Hassan emphasized that the 2027 poll would be a choice between maintaining economic stability and returning to an era of unviable subsidies, artificial exchange rates, and reckless borrowing.
Hassan highlighted the gains that would accrue to ordinary Nigerians from a second Tinubu term, including household relief, expanded domestic food production, job creation, and grassroots development. He noted that Tinubu had completed the "painful work" of resetting Nigeria's macroeconomic foundation and that more direct dividends were underway for Nigerian families. The administration's consolidation plan aims to lower the cost of living, expand food production, create jobs, and improve electricity supply.
The APC campaign cited infrastructural, educational, and security projects executed across the six geopolitical zones, including a tripling of monthly disbursements from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to the federal, state, and local governments. This increase, compared to pre-2023 levels, has enabled governors and council chairmen to fund local roads, healthcare, and civil service salaries. The party also pointed to the establishment and rollout of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which provides interest-free tuition coverage and monthly living stipends to tertiary students.
In Edo State, the Director of Media of the state campaign council, John Mayaki, echoed Governor Monday Okpebholo's remarks that no party can beat the APC in the state. Mayaki stated that there was no serious opposition, setting the stage for the APC's campaign efforts in the state. With President Tinubu expected to return from his working vacation, the stage is set for the full-blown presidential campaign tours across the states.
As the campaign intensifies, the APC-PCC has called on Nigerians to make a wise decision by voting for Tinubu, emphasizing that no voter would choose the path of retrogression. The party believes that Nigeria is making progress under President Tinubu and that the next phase of the administration will concentrate relentlessly on lowering the cost of living, expanding food production, creating jobs, and ensuring that the benefits of reform reach households.
