The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its efforts to solidify its presence in Southern Kaduna, a crucial region in Kaduna State, ahead of the 2027 elections. According to Victor Mathew Bobai, senior special adviser on public affairs to Governor Uba Sani, the party's strategy involves leveraging the grassroots mobilisation skills of Jerry Adams, the deputy governorship candidate, and the growing influence of General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Minister of Defence.
Jerry Adams, a key figure in the APC, has been instrumental in mobilising support in Southern Kaduna, with a particular focus on 12 local government areas, including Kaduna South, Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia, Kagarko, Kaura, Kauru, Sanga, Jema’a, Zangon Kataf, Lere, and Jaba. Bobai described Adams' grassroots engagement as a major component of the APC's efforts, stating that the party had built structures that would be deployed ahead of the elections to secure votes in these areas.
General Christopher Gwabin Musa, with his military background and growing influence across Southern Kaduna, has also become a vital component of the APC's emerging political strategy. Bobai highlighted Musa's connections across communities and the 23 local government areas of the state, which have expanded beyond political rallies to include house-to-house and door-to-door engagement. The Friends of CG Musa network has also focused on youth and women engagement, welfare interventions, and community development initiatives.
The APC's strategy in Southern Kaduna is also linked to development projects by the federal and state governments, which will be used as part of its campaign message. The federal government has approved several projects, including the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan. Additionally, Governor Uba Sani's administration has invested in healthcare, education, and rural connectivity across the state, with over 78 road projects covering 775 kilometres and the upgrading of 255 healthcare centres.
The Kaduna State Government has also completed 62 new secondary schools and renovated 15 general hospitals as part of its development record. According to Bobai, these visible infrastructure and social interventions will be crucial in the APC's campaign, reinforcing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani. The combination of political representation through Adams, grassroots mobilisation through the Friends of CG Musa network, and government projects has created a new platform for the APC to engage voters in Southern Kaduna.
The APC's efforts to consolidate its support base in Southern Kaduna also involve youth engagement, vocational initiatives, and community development. The party plans to intensify its grassroots activities ahead of the 2027 elections, taking its campaign directly to communities and households. The revival of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service and the planned recruitment of 7,000 youths into the community-based security structure are part of the administration's wider security and youth-engagement efforts.
