According to Dr. Hussam Salah Murad, Dean of Qasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of Cairo University Hospitals' Board of Directors, the conference topic was chosen in light of the rapid changes occurring worldwide, including health crises, epidemics, humanitarian crises, natural disasters, and major accidents. These changes necessitate enhancing the preparedness of healthcare institutions and their ability to respond effectively.
Dr. Murad emphasized that preparedness for crises and disasters requires prior scientific planning, continuous training, simulation programs, and coordination among various specialties and institutions. This approach aims to increase response efficiency and maintain the continuity of healthcare services. The vision of Qasr Al-Aini extends beyond providing medical services to building a comprehensive national system for managing medical crises and emergencies.
The conference agenda for the first day includes sessions on university education, graduate studies, artificial intelligence, and mass casualty incidents. The session on university education, chaired by Dr. Nadia Badawi, will discuss the development of medical education. The graduate studies session will review several scientific and educational projects, including a professional diploma in disaster medicine and a journal on emergency and disaster medicine.
