The ANEG Foundation recently organized a career exposure and mentorship visit for 95 Go Girls and Boys as part of its pre-summit activities for the 7th ANEG Girls Summit. The initiative, which took place on October 2, 2026, aimed to provide participants with hands-on experience in various professional environments. The visit was led by Madam Alberta Seyram Ananga-Ayitey, Founder and Programme Coordinator of ANEG Foundation.
The visit began at Maleka Farms, where participants were divided into four groups for a guided tour of the farm's fish farming operations. They observed the processing and packaging of fish, particularly tilapia, and gained practical experience in agriculture, aquaculture, science, technology, business, and related fields. This exposure demonstrated how classroom knowledge can be applied in real-world settings, broadening the young people's understanding of career opportunities.
From Maleka Farms, the team proceeded to the Akuse Government Hospital, Ghana Commercial Bank, and Ghana Police Service, Akuse. At each location, participants interacted with professionals, learning about their careers, responsibilities, and personal journeys. The professionals shared their educational backgrounds, experiences, and the courses they pursued to enter their respective professions. This allowed the young people to ask questions and gain a better understanding of different career pathways.
The visit also included a stop at the Akuse Prisons, where participants interacted with officers and learned about the work of the Ghana Prisons Service. As part of the visit, the ANEG Foundation donated assorted items to the facility. Madam Ananga-Ayitey emphasized the importance of giving young people opportunities to interact with professionals and experience real working environments, helping them make informed decisions about their educational and career paths.
The career exposure visit was described as fruitful and impactful, with participants gaining practical knowledge and drawing inspiration from the professionals they encountered. The ANEG Foundation expressed its appreciation to Fairtrade/Golden Exotics Limited (GEL) for supporting the initiative with buses to transport the participants throughout the visit. This collaboration enabled the young people to move beyond the classroom and experience different professional environments firsthand.
The ANEG Foundation's initiative is part of its broader commitment to empowering young people through education, mentorship, career guidance, and practical exposure. The foundation aims to help young people develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to prepare for their future. By providing such opportunities, the ANEG Foundation seeks to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in Ghana.
The 7th ANEG Girls Summit, scheduled to take place on October 31, 2026, will focus on the theme "Future Readiness: Empowering Young People for Better Life Outcomes." The summit is expected to bring together stakeholders to discuss ways to empower young people and prepare them for the challenges of the future. The ANEG Foundation's career exposure visit is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
