Algerian Tourism Minister Horia Madahi recently led a coordination meeting to examine the status of tourist properties allocated for investment. The meeting was part of an ongoing effort to inventory and update tourist property data. It was attended by senior officials from the Tourism Ministry and representatives of the National Agency for Tourist Property. The goal is to accelerate the allocation of properties to investors and improve the business climate.

The meeting aimed to mobilize economic property, enhance its value, and expedite its allocation to project holders. This aligns with the country's top priorities to boost investment and facilitate project implementation. Madahi emphasized that tourism sector development is closely tied to the availability of clear, prepared, and exploitable properties. Removing obstacles to project implementation is also crucial.

During the meeting, an update was provided on the development of ten tourist expansion areas. These areas will offer 70 properties for investment, allowing investors to implement projects such as tourist villages, hotels, and tourist facilities. This initiative aims to develop domestic tourism. Additionally, an overview of the tourist property portfolio was presented, which includes 238 classified tourist expansion areas and sites across 50 provinces.

The portfolio includes 86 tourist expansion areas with urban planning documents. These areas have been developed to attract investors and facilitate project implementation. According to the data presented, 294 hotel projects have been approved and are under construction within tourist expansion areas. Of these, 111 are under concession and 183 are on private land.

Minister Madahi issued several instructions to improve the management of tourist properties. These include accelerating the inventory and updating of property status, preparing a tourist property database, and completing infrastructure work in tourist expansion areas. She also encouraged innovative and flexible investment models that do not require large areas.

Madahi emphasized the need for enhanced coordination between tourism and traditional industry departments, state property services, and local authorities. This coordination aims to resolve outstanding issues and remove obstacles within a specified timeframe. She also stressed the importance of adopting a unified digital system for tourist property.

The goal of mobilizing tourist property is not only to provide investment areas but also to direct this resource towards productive tourism projects. These projects should generate added value, create jobs, and support local development. The minister's efforts aim to improve the transparency and effectiveness of allocating properties for investment.
