On Monday, approximately 12 million students in Algeria's three educational stages - primary, middle, and high school - will begin their academic year. This new academic year takes place under the guidance of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who recently emphasized the importance of optimizing the gains and advantages achieved in the education sector.
President Tebboune instructed National Education Minister Mohamed Sadek Saadawi to ensure a successful and distinguished academic year. The minister was tasked with utilizing the sector's acquired experience and substantial human resources since Algeria's independence. In preparation for the new academic year, the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and City Planning has handed over 289 educational facilities.
These facilities include 151 primary schools, 90 middle schools, and 48 high schools. Minister Saadawi previously highlighted the sector's commitment to preparing for the new academic year, including institutions affected by recent fires in eastern and central Algeria. During a visit to Jijel Province, the minister assured that damaged educational institutions would be ready for the start of the academic year.
This academic year introduces several pedagogical innovations, including arrangements for students with autism. These arrangements are based on coordination between the Ministries of National Education and National Solidarity to ensure effective integration and proper education for these students. Regarding textbooks, measures have been taken to guarantee their availability in educational institutions and sales points.
Over 80 million books have been made available nationwide. Another significant aspect of this new academic year is the reinforcement of human resources, with successful teachers recruited through a certification-based competition organized by the ministry several months ago. The National Education sector, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, is also organizing the second edition of the National School Health Week.
The event, themed "School Health... for a safe and healthy future," features topics such as the relationship between trees and human health for primary school students, the impact of forest damage on public health for middle school students, and the importance of protecting the forest environment for high school students. Algeria's educational sector is working to provide students with a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
As the new academic year begins, students, teachers, and educational institutions are expected to work together to achieve academic success and promote a culture of learning and development.
