Algerian Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nesma Arhab, officially launched the new training year on October 4, 2026, in the province of Tipaza. The minister attended the ceremony at the National Institute of Vocational Training, where she was briefed on the sector's situation and visited an exhibition of products made by students. This year's training program includes 23 new specialties in key sectors such as renewable energy and cybersecurity.
Over 400,000 students have enrolled in vocational training and education centers across Algeria for the new training year. The program features new specialties, including renewable energy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and Industry 4.0. The training year will focus on developing skills required by the job market, with an emphasis on linking training to employment. The program also includes a national reference framework for competency-based training.
In Tipaza province, over 13,500 students have enrolled in vocational training centers, including 8,467 new registrations. The province has introduced over 10 new specialties this year. Minister Arhab highlighted that the new approach in the sector aims to link training to employment, taking into account the needs of the job market and economic operators.
The new training year also features a national reference framework for competency-based training and digital registration and follow-up. This represents a significant shift in preparing training offers and updating them. The program includes 12,690 training positions with economic operators for structural projects in various sectors.
The Ministry of Vocational Training and Education has also partnered with various sectors to provide training programs. Over 1,160 artisans from traditional industries and 4,000 tourist guides have benefited from training programs. The ministry has also allocated 1,000 places per year for foreign students to benefit from 53 training offers.
Minister Arhab emphasized that the sector is developing, with initiatives such as competitions to discover skills, like the "Industry" program. Algeria will also host the African Olympic Games for professions in Oran in November 2026 and participate in the "World Skills Shanghai 2026" finals for the first time.
According to the minister, around 30,000 graduates from entrepreneurship development centers have launched investment projects, and 25 business incubators are being supported. The ministry aims to continue developing vocational training and education programs that meet the needs of the job market and economic operators.
