Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf met with his counterparts from Kuwait, Egypt, and Oman on Friday in New York, as part of his activities on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly. According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Attaf met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jراح Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Omani Foreign Minister Dr. Bader Al-Busaidi.
During his meeting with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Attaf emphasized the depth of brotherly relations between Algeria and Kuwait, and their commitment to continuing a year of consultation and coordination on various issues of common interest. The two ministers discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of investment, food security, and communications. Attaf highlighted the opportunities offered by Algeria's ambitious programs to develop desert agriculture, and invited Kuwaiti investors to explore opportunities in this promising field.
The Algerian and Kuwaiti ministers agreed to prepare a roadmap for common priorities and to organize a ministerial meeting to determine concrete steps to elevate the bilateral partnership to the highest levels. The meeting with the Egyptian Foreign Minister allowed the two sides to assess the quality of bilateral relations, which have seen unprecedented development in recent years under the guidance of the two countries' leaders, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The Algerian and Egyptian ministers also exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming meeting of the follow-up committee in October, aimed at enhancing economic cooperation in all fields, in implementation of the outcomes of the 9th Algerian-Egyptian High Joint Committee held in Cairo in November 2025. They discussed regional and international issues of common interest, including developments in the Middle East, Sudan, Libya, and the Sahel region, and agreed to continue coordination and consultation to promote peaceful solutions and prevent threats.
During his meeting with the Omani Foreign Minister, Attaf and Al-Busaidi expressed great satisfaction with the level of excellent brotherly relations between the two countries. They reviewed the prospects and opportunities for joint investment and ways to enhance economic partnership between the two countries, particularly through the exploitation of the qualifications and resources of both countries. They emphasized the importance of the direct connection project through sea ports to boost trade exchanges and expand the scope of bilateral cooperation.
The Algerian and Omani ministers also praised the complete agreement between the two countries on developments in the Arab region, particularly in the Middle East, and stressed the importance of intensifying political coordination and consultation at all levels. The meetings took place on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly, which brings together world leaders to address pressing global issues.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry's statement concluded that the meetings demonstrated the strong relations between Algeria and its Arab partners, and the commitment to enhancing cooperation and consultation to address common challenges.
