The Algerian Ministry of National Education has reaffirmed that monitoring students' academic progress and behavior is a shared responsibility between schools and parents. In a statement, the ministry emphasized the importance of collaboration and communication between the two parties to serve the best interests of students. This comes amid concerns over false and inflammatory publications on social media that aim to disrupt the relationship between parents and educational institutions.
The ministry welcomed parents as partners in achieving a smooth and orderly educational experience for their children. It also denied issuing publications that suggest mothers are barred from monitoring their children's affairs in educational institutions. Instead, the ministry clarified that parents are free to agree with the educational institution on who will be responsible for monitoring their child's progress.
Education Minister Mohamed El-Seghir Saadawi stressed the importance of listening to parents, enhancing communication with them, and clarifying the organizational aspects of educational institutions. This, he said, would enable parents to follow their children's school life and contribute to enhancing their role in accompanying and guiding them. Saadawi also warned against false and misleading publications on social media that seek to disrupt the harmony between parents and educational institutions.
The ministry called on parents to seek information on the relationship between them and educational institutions from the ministry's official website or the official pages of education directorates. It emphasized that schools and families are partners in education and that their shared goal is to ensure the interest and academic success of their children.
The ministry also announced an extension of the deadline for studying applications for reintegration of students who were not approved for reintegration into their original educational institutions. The new deadline is October 14, and the process will take place at the level of education directorates. This move aims to enable concerned students to continue their academic path.
The ministry explained that the committees responsible for studying files and considering the possibility of reintegrating students into other educational institutions will take into account the availability of pedagogical seats and organizational regulations. It invited parents of concerned students to follow up on the status of reintegration applications through the parent space in the national education sector's information system.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to accompanying students and parents and working to provide suitable conditions for continuing education within available means and according to applicable regulations. It urged students who have had their applications accepted to complete registration and enrollment procedures in the educational institutions they are assigned to.
