The 5th edition of the Eastern International Agriculture, Food Industry, and Packaging Expo, also known as Agriest Expo, began on October 28, 2026, in Constantine, Algeria. The event, which runs until October 31, features 130 exhibitors, mostly national public and private companies, as well as foreign companies. The expo aims to promote partnership and investment in areas related to food security.

The expo's fifth edition reflects a strong trend towards innovation driven by the goal of exporting to foreign markets. Exhibitors are showcasing various solutions to respond to the needs of agricultural activity, including integrated services and alternatives in the food industry. For instance, some companies are offering substitutes for chemically manufactured products with materials derived from natural sources.

On the first day of the expo, five ambassadors from Argentina, Namibia, Vietnam, Tanzania, and Madagascar attended the event to explore opportunities in the local market and discuss ways to export Algerian products to their countries. The ambassadors' presence highlights the growing interest in Algerian products and the potential for international trade.

The expo also features students with projects from the Institute of Nutrition, Feeding, and Agricultural Technology at the University of Constantine and the Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology at the University of Annaba. These students have been given free booths to showcase their projects, which aim to integrate vocational training into the expo and promote partnerships between companies and training institutions.

According to Ahmed Hanish, the expo's governor, the event is expected to attract at least 40,000 visitors and generate around 70 direct agreements between exhibitors to launch new projects. The expo has already seen a significant turnout, with visitors from neighboring provinces and other regions of Algeria.

The expo features various companies operating in different areas of the agricultural sector and food production, including packaging materials, feed production, and equipment for agricultural investments. Some exhibitors, such as the CPOA Group, are showcasing irrigation equipment, while others, like Adara Company, are presenting new products, including geomembranes for artificial ponds.

The event also highlights the interest of foreign countries in discovering local production of agricultural equipment. For example, Namibian representatives expressed interest in products from the CPOA Group, which specializes in irrigation equipment. The Algerian companies' ability to export and meet foreign demand was emphasized during the event.
